Since the time that our holy prophet defined the reappearance of the Savior in the end of the world, muslims were always thinking about that. This conception was so confirmed as far as many times that there were rising of fake claims. These pretenders even change some of the prophet’s Hadith (traditions) and try to justify their claims. Some of these claims happened before 12th Imam birth that “Muhammed Ibn- Abdullah-Ibn Hassan-Ibn Hassan Mojtaba is one of them who was well known as ( Zakieh Soul ) between his followers. After a while he claimed as Mahdi (the 12th Imam). Mahdi Abbasi who was from Abbasids, claimed as Mahdi, he made fake Hadith (tradition) of prophet that said Mahdi’s genealogy is from his uncle Abbas!!! This was much shameful that “Siyuti” the famouse sunni scientist defined that this claim was fake except the arrival concept, the arrival signs were used such a tool for their political goals, for instance we can name the Abumoslem Khorasani’s uprising with black flags that causes fall of Omayyads that was useful for Abbasids. Sometimes the negative signs draw attentions such as “Sofiani”. As Osman one of Omayyads’ rulers uprised as Sofiani from Iraq. He used the determinist’s beliefs to ravage in Iraq because they believed that he is Sofiani and he could make the arrival happen soon so they stand (tolerate) him. In latest centuries there were other event as Safavian’s claim based on that the Khorasani Seyied may rise between them or more important than that was the Babiyat and Baha’i’s claims. In last centuries we can show the importance effect of Mahdi’s culture on political movements. The mentioned events and same events happened during the time (history) and Muslims (especially Shias) would be deceived and follow these pretenders even if they found less similarity between them and Hadith (traditions). Most of the time they should follow them otherwise they were killed or became hopeless. They did it because of the great future that was promised in Qur′an.
These issues caused in recent century that clerics met with appearance issue in 3 ways:
- Some people still like the past, accept any similar event to the narratives as a sign of emerging of the Savior. And they justified the parts that were not matched with the time events, in any way.
Eventualy, it will result in the absence of the Imam, and disappointing and frustrating people and losing their faith in the Messianic issue.
- Some look at the past and their mistakes associated with the appearance and preferred not to study these signs to avoid the happening same mistakes.
They assumed that every recognition in appearance sings may be accompanied by mistakes.
They refer to the Imams′ Hadith which says “the determiners of exact time of appearance are the liars.” And they believe that the signs of appearance must not be studied, for the Imams have strongly interdicted their followers to determine the exact time of emerging.
- The 3rd group considered this issue and its sings in a more reasonable way and observed them very carefully and whenever they found any contradiction, they did not justify it.
For example, they did not accept Abu Muslim and black flags as Seyyed Khorasani and didn’t mislead, for his most signs did not match with Abu Moslim in the narratives.
This group also considered the construction of a bridge Karkh over the Tigris River in Baghdad, as a sign of the emergence, but they did not insist on the rise of the Savior, because the rest of the signs of the apocalypse was not observed. Thus, they avoid to lose the real way. By seeing the signs, they became conscious and more and more ready. However, they avoided any additional movement and waiting for Imam Mahdi (pbuh) in a sensible manner. In our time, people who believe in the Messianic are classified in three groups:
Except 3rd group that have dealt with the sings very carefully and sensible, it seems that the view of the last 2 groups are facing with some challenges.
- The first group as mentioned before, by seeing any phenomenon that was like the signs of appearance made a scandal and hopes among the waiting.
- But the 2nd group, there are some objections with. However, they don’t despair, but their viewpoint doesn’t look sound because inattention to signs of the emergence when it is near may cause that the Shiite couldn’t be ready rapidly [for emergence].
However, it is a true matter that the Shiite must be always ready for the emergence, but at very close times to the emergence, special readiness will be needed which is obtained by attention and tendency to multiple signs [of emergence].
From other hand, our Imams in some of their Hadiths advised about times near the emergence and the Shiite have been called to do them.
For example, the Shiite have been banned from any interference to the “Qirqysya War’ that takes place a few months before the emergence, because this war is a battle between oppressors in which infidels and pagans will kill each other . Or in some of Hadiths the Shiite have been called to support the Yamani Flag and since Yamani will show up before emergence of Imam [Mahdi], it means Imam is not appeared before Yamani emerges. In this condition, if the Shiite don’t identify the signs, they won’t learn about whom must they support from.
Therefore, as mentioned above, the recognition of signs of emergence is vital. Misunderstanding of 2nd group arises from problems took place for 1st group and members of 2nd group blundered itself while they are avoiding from mistakes of the 1st group.
Meanwhile, hadith of Imams about “not determining of time of the emergence” means not to determine the exact time [of emergence]because they as “Infallibles” who never make mistakes, sins and inanities, have said more than 2000 Hadiths about the emergence.
Certainly, these signs have been said for awareness of the Shiite and other Muslims. If Imams concluded that concerning about signs was false, they did not discuss about them. This matter will be argued in the future.
- The 3rd group looks more successful because is neither similar to the 1st group that see every event as emergence sign nor to the 2nd group that don’t have any attention to the signs. These people keep themself and other men away from improper promises and don’t get disappointed.
From other hand, these members study the signs narrowly to avoide from facing any problem at troublesome times of Apocalypse and follow their leader (12th Imam) with thorough readiness.
